The last major hospital upgrade was the opening of the surgical building in 1987 and whilst essential rectification work has taken place in the last five-years, the ageing infrastructure is incompatible with contemporary models of service delivery.
Extensive community and staff consultation has been carried out to ensure the building design maximises the use of space, enables efficient work and patient flows, respects private and family space and is easy to access.
The new Roma Hospital is a key part of the South West Hospital and Health Service’s vision to be a respected leader and partner organisation to improve and maintain the health and well-being of patients, staff and our communities.
Construction of the state-of-the-art hospital commenced in the later part of 2018.
